Heavy Hearted

It feels like the world is falling apart,
And every human is born without a heart,
And every evil has found its counterpart,
And death rates have gone off the chart,

It feels like humanity is officially dying,
And innocent children will never stop crying,
And the news will only get more horrifying,
And the collective rage is now solidifying,

It feels like pure intentions are always fake,
And trusting people is a grave mistake,
And dread is a feeling you cannot shake,
And we have all gotten used to the heartache,

It feels like the whole situation is dire,
And politics have set the world on fire,
And tyrants are hiding behind a ceasefire,
And reality is a ridiculously cruel satire,

It feels like we’re all waiting for a sign,
like some intervention of the divine,
A saving grace or some kind of lifeline,
An escape from this toxic serpentine.
