I was not doing well for the longest time,
I paid the price for someone else’s crime,
But I healed and built an impenetrable armour,
Learned how to become the best snake charmer,
Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer,
Then crush them all like an unstoppable bulldozer,
I learned to put out fires before they lit the matches,
Learned to heal all my wounds and all my scratches,
Picked myself up and vowed to never stay down,
Took a deep breath and started to look around,
Realised I was surrounded by the greatest friends,
Friends I would love and protect till the world ends,
I realised that I have so much untapped potential,
And the quarrels of petty people are inconsequential,
I am so much more than what they thought of me,
I will soar higher than ever like a bird finally set free,
Not drowning in sadness is a breath of fresh air,
I’m finally out of that dark place and I swear,
I will not allow anyone to drag me back down,
I will be the loudest woman in this godforsaken town,
I’m finally ready, my heart steady, my soul ablaze,
And even though I still go through some bad days,
And though I still have some little bad habits to sever,
I can honestly & genuinely say I’m happier than ever.
