Tear stained cheeks over pointless fights,
White oak doors and a blown-out candle,
Mercurial thoughts that are too hard to handle,
Hopes and dreams that are intricate to grasp,
Unspoken restraints that are too tough to unclasp,
A craving for freedom that burns through her heart,
A laundry list of character defects but she’s smart,
A girl with a strong wit and an iridescent soul,
Able to fix the broken and make them whole,
Even if doing so proves to be challenging and tough,
She’s lost and broken but somehow she’s enough,
She’s outspoken, motivated and so goddamn loud,
She’s been called a disappointment but she’s so proud,
Going against the unstated rules of a society so vile,
Her simplest acts of defiance turned everyone hostile,
She’s reclaiming the narrative, rewriting her fate,
No longer fazed by juvenile fights and strings of hate,
Doesn’t care about being exiled, shunned or cursed,
