Desolate

Young and foolish, she believed the lies,
The declarations of love through the lows and highs,
A state of delirium, love-stricken smiles became a blur,
When everything she had was taken from her,

She felt herself falling, her soul shattered,
She was covered in scars, her heart battered,
A girl once full of life, and a cute lack of attention,
Turned into a figment of someone’s worst intention,

“Marked forever” echoed through her wounded mind,
The silver lining was just too damn hard to find,
But she fought against the demons in her head,
And stitched her pieces together with a thread,

Spent a long time running from her own thoughts,
Drowned her pain with many throat-burning shots,
Until reality knocked her right back to earth,
And she found herself questioning her own worth,

Wondering if it was really what she had deserved,
Was it actually karma? Was it justice being served?
Or was she the victim of a game that left her desolate?
A violent happenstance, falling for the devil incarnate...

Nevertheless, she raised herself up from the ashes,
Numb fingers wiped the tears coating her lashes,
She put it all behind and decided to start over,
And later on, she was known for being a rover,

She dreamed of a fresh start instead of fights,
A remedy to help her through restless nights,
She made friends that didn’t leave behind marks,
She learned that the ocean wasn’t filled with sharks,

It was slow but she made notable progress,
Having kind souls around helped with the process,
She learned to be tough, to stand strong on her own,
Collected the stone they threw at her & built a throne.
